On the northern banks of the river Vindelälven, just outside Svansele, are the remains of Västerbotten's single ancient settlement, part of an area which was first inhabited thousands of years ago.
The settlement sheds light on the lives of the ancient tribes who travelled the Inland region of northern Sweden, hunting moose. 21st century visitors can join a guided tour and sample a taste of Stone Age food, such fish boiled in the ground or moose on the rocks!
The picture of the Stone Age which is portrayed is, as far as possible, built on archaeological findings. Estimations and assumptions have also been made with compared people who lived with Stone Age technology during mdoern time.
In the area, buildings and tools are shown as archaeologists believe they looked like.
Guided tours and other activites can be booked all year, every day.
