When you step over the threshold to Bastuträsk Old School, you feel that you are about 60 years back in time!
The society's first school and church, which was built in 1902, was close to being demolished, but today it is now completely decorated in a typical spirit from the Second World War. Here you can find emergency preparedness museum, school museum with classroom & teacher's residence, kitchen, church hall with associated sacristy, caféteria and business environment from the 40's. The building as well as the old pump house by the railway are managed by Bastuträsk Kulturbyggnader, an association that with voluntary forces saved these unique environments.
From May to August, the Old School with the emergency museum is open for visitors by appointment. We welcome both groups and individuals for visits.
